SIIMT University College Celebrates Graduation 2024 with a Strong Call for Cybersecurity Leadership
Accra, April 18, 2024 –
A proud milestone in its journey, SIIMT University College celebrated its first official Graduation 2024 ceremony, marking the beginning of a new chapter for its 20 pioneering graduates. The event, held in Accra, brought together dignitaries, education leaders, and industry stakeholders who praised the institution for its vital role in shaping Ghana’s digital future.
Since its establishment in 2013, SIIMT University College—affiliated with the University of Cape Coast (UCC)—has grown into a hub for cutting-edge education in Cyber Security, Data Science, and Information Technology. This graduation ceremony honored not just the academic achievements of the students but also the institution’s vision to produce globally competitive IT professionals.



Minister Commends SIIMT’s Cybersecurity Vision at Graduation 2024
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Joseph Cudjoe, Minister for Public Enterprises and Member of Parliament for Effia Constituency, lauded SIIMT’s focus on cybersecurity education. He stressed that in today’s digital era, students must be trained not only to use technology but also to safeguard systems against growing cyber threats.
“I commend SIIMT for its dedication to quality education and for nurturing the next generation of IT professionals. In an age of ever-evolving cyber threats, SIIMT’s role in equipping students with cybersecurity skills is critical to safeguarding Ghana’s digital infrastructure,” the Minister said.
He also emphasized that education must be seen as a lifelong journey, urging the graduates to continue learning, innovating, and growing as they enter the professional world.
A Vision for Ghana’s Digital Transformation
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Nii Noi Dowuona, a prominent figure from the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) and National Accreditation Board (NAB). He emphasized the power of IT professionals to solve complex challenges and drive national progress through innovation and technology.
“You are not just entering the workforce; you are becoming the architects of Ghana’s digital transformation,” Prof. Dowuona told the graduating class.
Also present was Prof. Simon Mariwah, who represented Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast. Prof. Mariwah led the official oath declaration for the graduates, urging them to uphold professionalism and ethical standards as they move forward.
SIIMT Rector Encourages Students to Lead with Purpose
Dr. Raju Sonavane, Rector of SIIMT University College, inspired the graduates to embrace their roles as problem solvers and digital leaders.
“In an ever-evolving technological world, IT professionals are no longer just support staff—they are the drivers of transformation. Be bold, be ethical, and above all, be innovative,” he said.
He encouraged students to always stay curious and never settle for mediocrity, noting that their journey at SIIMT has prepared them to meet the demands of a rapidly changing global economy.
Industry Praises Role of IT in Modern Sectors
Mr. Tripathi Dhananjay, CEO of Pharmanova Group Limited, emphasized the increasing importance of IT in critical industries like pharmaceuticals, especially in vaccine development and medical logistics. He commended the graduates for entering a field where their skills will have immediate and significant real-world impact.


Celebrating Student Excellence at Graduation 2024
Emmanuel Gyadu, a BSc IT student, was named the Valedictorian of the 2024 class. In his speech, he shared his journey from a curious student to a confident IT professional, thanking the faculty and staff for their unwavering support.
Mr. Anthony Kitsi Prempeh, another outstanding graduate, reflected on his achievements and the value of perseverance and continuous learning in the tech world.
